Simon is only been catty because she's not a judge on The X Factor she's a judge on The Voice UK.

She really didn't stand out nor was that amazing in that competition to be honest. She may have had success but that has little to do with her being on American Idol. She became successful later on.

For him to say to flat out say there are better singers than her and that she won't win or get any better is really harsh!

I didn't like Simon's criticisms regarding body or weight but musically, he was often on point.
I feel as time went on, Simon softened, especially when he was on X Factor and would praise his own contestants.

He was too mean, but there is some merit in his criticism, the thing with her is that she oversings sometimes, that's not please, some growls and screams are welcome, but there are people that overdo it and people don't criticize them so the singer keeps oversinging, if fans were "oh i think you should sing more softly, you don't need to raise your larynx to impress", but that doesn't happen, people prefer to say others can't sing cause they're not Mariahs and Whitneys, people need to stop with this BS, they ignore the good performances and only showcase the bad ones, every artist has good performances just like every artist has bad performances, a recent example is Mariah, she was unprofessional and she was going to lip the whistle notes like most singers that have the whistle do cause it's not something easy to control, you see Kelly and Xtina with difficulty in hitting those notes cause it's not easy and people feel the need to bash her for this.
