I love him in Raiders, but my favorite performance of his is The Listener in the "There Was an Old Woman" episode of The Ray Bradbury Theater. He created such an unusual atmosphere and a great foil to the titular Old Woman without saying a word. It's brilliant.

Anyone seen him in THE BOYS? He was a standout as a 16 year old tearaway (he was 26 at the time) accused of murder, taking the audience through a whole range of emotions. I couldn't find any clips online but it's out on DVD:

I love it when an actor makes himself "immortal" by only one single role in one sin16d0gle movie - Lacey suceeded here as Toht in "Raiders the Lost Ark". Indeed one of the best Villains of the 80ies. He will not be forgotten.

I never liked Indiana Jones movies or Harrison Ford, but I watch
Raiders of the Lost Ark
just for Lacey's performance.

Saw him as Crawder in Central's Connie (with Stephanie Beacham). Horrible bastard.

When I was growing up Ronald Lacey was always on tv in guest roles. Very effective in sinister or otherwise dubious parts. His early death was quite a surprise.

To me, his character in "Raiders Of The Lost Ark" was one of the scariest villians I've ever seen, the other one being Manuel Ojeda's Zolo in "Romancing The Stone".

I'm a big fan of Ronald Lacey as well. He was a splendidly slimy villain in "Raiders of the Lost Ark." He was likewise excellent in "The Final Programme" and "Flesh + Blood." Rest in peace, Mr. Lacey.

When I was a kid, Ronald Lacey's Toht was my favorite movie villian of all time (even more than Darth Vader, and I was a huge Star Wars geek). My brother and I drove our mom crazy at the dinner table by stuttering "We are not thirsty" everytime she asked us what we wanted to drink. We kept that up for months.
Other than Raiders, the only movies I saw Lacey in were Firefox and Buckaroo Banzai. Lacey was completely uncrecognizable in Banzai but his performance didn't otherwise stand out (good accent, though). I thought he was great in Firefox, and the movie took a huge dive in quality ** SPOILERS ** when his character was killed off ** END SPOILERS**.

I'm working late in my videostore here in Amsterdam. I was passing time with the dvd's of Blackadder. The one episode from series two where mr. Lacy was the bishop of bath and wells. He was soo funny i thought i'd look him up on imdb. AMAZING that he was the german fellow from raiders.

Yes. I'm a huge Lacey fan. I posted almost all of the info on the actor for IMDB. 5b4He was my fave. I wrote him a letter when I was a child and he responded very politely, graciously, and with a few words of advice for a young actor. I have it still (along with signed Toht photo) and cherish it to this day more than anything else I possess. It meant a great deal to me. . . still does. He was a magnificent talent who I feel eventually would have become more of a household name had he not died so prematurely. Having been only 55, RAIDERS was his obvious peak of fame but there would have surely been so much more that he would have gone on to do and his chameleon-like qualities are sorely missed.

Well I have to say I have only seen him in Raiders of the Lost Ark, but I thought he played a great villan. He was very bizare in the way he laughed at others misfortunes including his superiors.
