Something that is always brought up is how much of a huge idiot George Lazenby's manager was for telling him the James Bond franchise was gonna be dead soon and thus convincing Lazenby not to sign the contract for guaranteed movie roles. Some blogs even make it out that Lazenby later fired that manager when James Bond ultimately survived and actually became even more profitable and Lazenby's movie career never picked up steam as much as it had the potential to after leaving his 1 hit wonder as Bond.
We all know this in hindsight but at the time what was the reasoning for this? If you see it from the lenses of someone living in the late 60s without foreknowledge, did Lazenby's manager advice make sense? Or was he just a colossal ****ing imbecile?

It was AWFUL advice from Lazenby's manager.
If OHMSS did well, then Lazenby would be walking away from what was still a successful franchise.
If it did badly, Lazenby would be out of work and facing a very uncertain future, having made only one film and being seen by the world as the man who managed to make a Bond film unsuccessful.
