I recently watched the Murder, She Wrote episode "Curse of the Daanau", where Larry Linville played police lieutenant Steven Ames. I noticed that Ames' personality was somewhat like Frank Burns' personality, especially when he kept questioning Jessica Fletcher about being with the CIA, FBI, or NIC. Am I the only one who noticed the similarities between the characters?

He played the coroner, Dr. Makurji in the TV movie The Night Stalker starring Darren McGavin. It had been years since I'd seen it and half expected the character to be snotty like Frank Burns when I recognized Larry Linville. Although his screen time was short, he was about the only one who didn't give Kolchak any grief.

That is sad to hear that he was typecasted after M.A.S.H. but he played those characters so well. Hollywood needs to look at what an actor or actress can do. It would be just like Christina Applegate only getting roles that are like Kelly Bundy. I do not think she would like that at all. I was only using that as an example there.

From what I understand he was somewhat typecast in roles like that.
