well at the end of the day she is just another tv actress from a hit tv show that is now over. Not that i'm dissing her because dh was successful but the fact is that when a tv show wraps no matter how successful it was many actors can find themselves back on the job line again.Longoria's film career never really took it off the way people anticipated it would so if she has to make her cash through commercials then fair play to her.

If I could be hired by a major brand to be a spokesperson for hundreds of thousand, if not millions, I'd do it too.
Btw, there are tons of Oscar/Emmy winning performers who plug products on TV and in magazines so I don't get your point. On top of that, Kaley Cuoco who is currently a VERY SUCCESSFUL TV star is plugging cars and travel and she's not desperate by any measure.
