<p dir="auto">It's been widely reported that Jayne Mansfield, who was under contract to Warner Brothers at the time, tested for the role of Judy in "Rebel Without a Cause," but director Nicholas Ray didn't feel she was right for the part.  Natalie Wood is so indelible as Judy it's difficult to imagine anyone else doing that role.<br />
