Went to see Dickens Women at the Edinburgh Festival this afternoon. Miriam was marvellous, of course, a real tour-de-force. She came out into foyer afterwards to sign books, programmes etc. I bought a copy of her book on Dickens Women and she signed it for me. She is absolutely lovely. She's very intelligent and witty and looks much smaller in real life. I'm afraid I became rather tongue-tied and star-struck. She just smiled, asked if I enjoyed the show and said it was a lovely audience in Edinburgh.
Miriam - you're a treasure! I'll be walking on air for days to come!
