I always assumed he was either Jewish or Irish, but after noticing his resemblance to both Buck Kartalian and Richard Bakalyan, I'm wondering if he might be of Armenian ancestry, with his last name an Anglicization of whatever the Armenian name for "son of a miller" is, or being derived from Mikaelian or Melkonian or some similar name.

I always wondered this myself. If his real surname is "Miller", perhaps he descended from a family of German-Jews, or German-Gentiles. If it was something else that was changed to "Miller", I'm not sure.
