I watched this in a club in 1989, and was struck by how they made her look so pretty; I thought she must have had her nose done. She never looked this way in a movie
(I know, make-up/lighting, but gee..)Ironically, one of the few songs where she is understated, and more enjoyable to me. Less being more.
I don't recall if this was an actual pop hit, or just a dance-club song, though

Almost one year later, I'll reply to your post!
Yes, I believe she did have some "refinement," and from a very talented practitioner.

Compare her nose to 1972. She didn't have some refinement?

She did a mesmerizing rendition of this song on the Grammys around the time the album was released. She won a Grammy Living Legend award that night. The clip is available on YouTube. The url is below.

I think it has a great pop sound, and I like her voice when used in a more subtle ,lower register. I'm trying to remember if top 40 radio was still playing pop. Again, the fact she look so different. I see on youtube that she sang on various tc shows( I must have been out of the loop then)

It was a smash in the UK, less so here, although it charted pretty high here on dance charts.
It's from an album named "Results", which is one of the best projects she's ever done. 1989. You can get it from Amazon. It's expensive because it is currently out of print (WHY, EPIC RECORDS?), but you can get it, and it's well worth it, especially if you liked "Losing My Mind". The rest of the album is along those linestheatrical, often wild, moody, but her voice is in top form and the production is lavish. Produced by the Pet Shop Boys.
It went gold in the UK and should have duplicated that success here, but radio for the most part shunned it. Their (and their listeners') loss.
