I respectfully disagree. She's the only reason I might stop watching the show, at least until her character is killed off. I don't have a problem with the character, but I think the actress is horrible. Whether she's happy, sad, scared, whatever, all she does is make her eyes buggy. She really needs to learn how to emote properly.

The reasons Davies gave were killing major characters is dramatic, moves the show along, and is fun. What some people who do not like the character of Gwen Cooper (yes I am one of those who do not like Gwen Cooper) will say it is because Davies loves Gwen and did not like that Tosh (as well as Owen and Ianto) was more popular than Gwen so he killed off the competition. Since Davies has also said that Gwen is the character he would be the most like if he was a woman and he absolutely loved her, and that Torchwood was not going where he envisioned it so he had to start over, maybe he did have to get rid of the competition for Gwen. Tosh was my favorite character after Ianto Jones.

I love Martha and I'd love for her to have stayed on the show, but not as a replacement for anyone. I wished they kept Tosh, Owen, and Ianto.

Martha was in three episodes and I did not have enough of her. She's a fantastic character. However, since RTD kept bringing her back on Doctor Who her character went downhill. For example: Journey's End ab68nd especially End of Time. Before that she was a fantastic character even if series 4 Martha wasn't anywhere as good as series 3 Martha was. Torchwood Martha was fantastic and I would have loved for her to stay. I still didn't want her to be anyone's replacement though.

Tosh was my favorite as well on Torchwood, and it was just a shame that her character arc was considered done (per Naoko Mori's own words at SDCC 2008). I was relieved to hear she was back in the West End in Avenue Q last year, and am even more pleased to hear she will play Yoko Ono in the BBC Four production of 90 minute John Lennon biopic production.

I know, I'm so smitten with her character. Martha Jones as a permanent replacement would have kept me interested but the show just isn't the same without Naoko as Tosh.

Well, I don't quite agree, but I certainly know what you're talking about. She was absolutely my favourite character.
