I was an extra in the movie "Teachers" back in high school. In between shoots the extras were all sent down to the cafeteria to snack and play around and stuff. Every couple of days or so Richard Mulligan would come down and start to improv. He would play off all of us and go into tirades(jokingly of course), and lose his mind. Not only was he hilarious but he was also a very gentle soul. It was an honor to have I guess you could say worked with him. But mostly to have met him.
At the same time I had the chance to also meet Judd Hirsch and JoBeth Williams, another great guy and gal. Both were affable and friendly and quick to smile.

Hey Bishop, you are very welcome. It is so cool when something this old pops up in my email letting me know someone answered or commented on something I wrote ages ago. Cool way to start the day.

I know this is over 8 years old but cool story and thanks for sharing. I haven't watched that movie in over 15 years but I got to watch it again. I remember liking it a lot.

I actually ended up on the cutting room floor alot. On screen I was a student heading to class at the beginning. I am sorry to say I was wearing the burgundy nike jogging jacket and rust colored corduroys. It seemed cool then, but I look at it now and its like, eeeewwwwww.
I was also a gang member getting arrested in the background when Alan Garfield is wa7eclking through the hall.
The only other thing was at the beginning of the movie when the song "Teacher Teacher" by .38 special was playing on screen you see a kid playing air guitar to the song. They filmed 2 of us doing that, unfortunately they chose him and not me. The sad part for me was the fact that I actually played guitar in real life.
Filmed alot of other stuff, including being in the background when Ralph Macchios character stole the drivers ed car. But I couldn't see any of that on screen. I was always just off screen.
Very cool experience.

Oh really? What scene were you in? Were you one of the students in Richard's class? Or Jurel's? What about Ditto's?
