I used to watch this guy all the time growing up. Reruns of "Soap", his occassionnal appearences on "Golden Girls", then his own spin-off with "Empty Nest". I really wish he was still hereI would love to meet him. Such talent. Especially "Soap". Dammit, he was awesome in that show.
Know that, thank you, next question.

Mmmmm, "Soap". Comedy Central used to show reruns of this in the 90s when they were actually trying to make multiple generations laugh, not just the youngsters.

Hey guys. I came over to imdb today after my - heh - several day marathon of "SOAP" DVDs(so addictive) i used to watch the reruns, maybe when i was in Junior High (i'm 37 now)and for some reason, decided to toss them in my Netflix queue in March and have been watching again ever since.
Oh, i lost my train of thought. I came to see when it was that Mr Mulligan had passed away. As i've watched him, i thought "How sad that he is gone", and was even more shocked to realize how young he was when he passed on, and that he has been gone six years.
Getting back "Soap" - I am in season 2 right now, and even to just pull one moment out Mr Mulligan's &b68quot;Burt" was drunk after thinking he saw his wife Mary being, err, inappropriate, with her college professor on the couch, and ended up at his secretary's house. As i watched him (and funny drunk really is harder to pull off in acting than it looks!), especially when he entered, looking like his feet had been put on sideways,:-) and then a bit later when he is standing on top of "Sally" (his secretary)'s table, i thought again, "Why is he not ranked up there with the wonderful physical comedians like Buster Keaton and Charlie Chaplin?" Because, and i am a silent film buff big time, he really is of that calibre. Just a wonderfully funny man, so perfectly cast. And as amazing and ahead of its time as "Soap" was, he still shines like a jewel in the show, and it would have been a lot less fun without him.
I'm so glad to see there are indeed fellow appreciators of his work, and will definitely look at the movies mentioned!! Come back and "talk" more, folks!!

Yes, he was definitely one of the greatest comedic actors of our time. He was great in "Soap." I also loved him in "Teachers" where he played the mental patient who decided to take over the identityb68 of a substitute teacher, and he dressed up as Abe Lincoln and Ben Frankin, etc. Hilarious!
