Sorry for the delayed reply. No, that wasn't the reason why he came to my school. I don't remember why, actually, but he spoke to us about voice acting and sounds in movies and TV shows. It's been a long time, but I remember some of what he said. He told us that when he was a kid he was obsessed with sounds and would carry a tape recorder with him everywhere to record anything he could, and he was always coming up with weird voices. He also said that sound effects are what make movies and TV shows so engaging. He was really nice and funny.

Really? He came to my school in 4th grade. He was hilarious.
I remember there was a contest on Nick and the grand prize was a party at your house or your school with a Nick personality of your choice. One of the choices was Fred Newman. Was that the reason he was at your school? I remember thinking that if I won the contest I would pick him because he does the funny voice noises.
