Isn't this kid from some kind of psycho religious family or something ? I think I remember seeing him come on Letterman to promote Last Action Hero & all that he would talk about was "my savior Jesus Christ" and what not. He was even mentioning how he completely disapproved all of the violence in the movie because of his religious beliefs.
I remember it being really creepy because he even brought out his little sister who is also an actress & the only thing the two of them could do was to grin at the camera & mention how religious their family was.

Better to be a religious creepo than a devil-worshipping creepo! Remember, they called Jesus a religious creepo too and crucified him for it. I think its great that he stands up for his convictions and really lives his faith.not like celebrities out there who claim to be Chrisb68tian but spend all their time in bars drinking, picking up people and going to bed with the first person they meet.

Really I never knew saying "My savior Jesus Christ" got anyone labeled a religious freak. Huh..
If you asked a person "Are You a Christian" and they said "I believe in faith" you'd probably assume that they're saying no they are not. Because of each persons different belief and take on what being a "Christian" means. Even in different religious sects they don't agree on the meaning.
But if you asked if do I go to church and I replied "No" then you'd think that they are not a christian. When in fact you are failing to see the whole picture or landscape or what have you. Some people feel they don't need a place of worb68ship to feel closer to a high power, be it God, Gaia, or whoever they believe in.
There's unfortunately a stigmatism that a person is perceived negatively if they are not a "christian" which is in fact the sole opposite of what "christians" are told NOT to do - be close minded. I'm not saying I do believe in it or don't believe in the Christian teachings. But with the form of interpretation, it becomes a very different.
I'm not saying all christians are like this, I know plenty who are not, but the religious sects are so focused on who's right and who's wrong rather than show their followers faith.
Faith is not necessarily directed to mean Jesus, God, etc. It can but it can also mean faith in an idea. It also may mean belief that is not based on proof.
While I myself don't go around touting or expressing my faith-based beliefs it doesn't mean that I am or am not a christian or that I'm not a good person - those are the interpretations of other and while I might be able to influence others in how they see me by my actions, ultimately they have a perception of me that may or may not be correct - that I cannot control. And thus, is where perception and interpretation of judgement sway the rope between truth and hearsay.
So, Religion is not bad, but it definitely is only for certain people. But just because a person does or doesn't practice a specific religion or go to place of worship everyday/week doesn't mean they are bad. And just because a person goes to a place of worship and profess their faith, doesn't automatically make them a good person.
Some people feel it is their duty and part of their religion to profess their faith to others, and they are free to do so, as long as they're not at my door weekly trying to convert me, there's no problem.
Austin would be more than welcome to say "My savior Jesus Christ" after every sentence around me and I wouldn't have one issue with it, other than it might get a tad annoying. But I wouldn't think he's a religious freak and I don't think it makes him one. But if you think it does then, that's your belief.
everyone is entitled to what they believe, now that is fact.

And OP reveals its true colors. It had nothing better to reply, realized it had painted itself into a corner, so it tells you to shut up. Gosh, that's truly an eloquent response, displaying exactly the worthiness of this thread.
If it had any class, it would remove this thread. Truth is, though, that its real goal was to bash someone whose views she disliked, nothing less than that, and hoped it could pull a few bottom feeders up on the line it threw into the waters. It succeeded in that, as well. Maybe you all need to look at yourselves and ask how you all got to be such jerks.
Actually, you're the only one appearing to be a "creepo" as described in this thread. There is actually no logic of any kind in any of your posts. Even in the post I attached this reply to you come across as totally irrational. "who will make you regret it" you say. Exactly HOW do you think this could happen. Is Austin going to jump out of the screen the next time I see him, arrest me for the Inquisition, and threaten to have me burned at the stake? Here's a news flash for you: "The Last Action Hero" was FICTION. Get yourself a grip on reality.
His beliefs - or lack thereof - are a matter of no importance to anyone but him. They don't affect his performance, they don't affect my life, and they don't impact me OR YOU in any way. Your continual harping on this indicates that you have a serious emotional problem. Why not get the professional help you clearly need and let go of what is, without a doubt, a non-issue.

I have to agree with the majority of posters here - How come celebs ( kids, actors whatever) can get excited about anything - political stance, breast cancer, their latest vacation or relationship or new car! But when it comes to what th1ebcey feel is most important, they are weird if they are excited aabout it.
Also as stated before, kids in this business have a really tough time staying true to their morals ( if they have any) even on auditions they are asked to swear or do things that most children don't have to face. Yes it's a choice, nobody has to be an actor, but if it's what they love and are good at, it is really hard to make everyone happy (agents, managers etc.) and still not compromise. It takes a little extra work. I just think that's why Austin and his sister may have been a little over the top during that interview. Just a hard line to walk.
I'm happy to see someone with a strong belief system in place, it's helps in this competitive biz.
BTW- Even though Austin is in my name, there's no relation.

hehe - i don't doubt it.
Some people responded to this thread with a type of "oh, he's not that bad" or a "Just because somebody is religious doen't make them weird" attitude. Well, those people don't realize just how much of a religious CREEPO the kid was !
I'm not just saying he was religious. I'm saying he was a religious CREEPO who probably began preaching while he was on the movie set ! The whole time him & his sister were on Letterman they were acting like brainwashed cult-members who only knew how to say "and my savior Jesus Christ" before and after every sentence which came out of their mouths.

If he only "mentioned" the name Jesus or the fact that he was a Christian then I wouldn't have even brought it all up.
You just keep telling yourself that, sweetie. It would pain you too much to have to admit that you're nothing but a narrow-minded bigot.
Everyone who watches interview shows has to sit through interviews with people who "thank Jesus" for "making me the man/woman I am." No one's forcing you to stay on that channel, no one's telling you you have to convert. You manage to listen to the Dianetics people blathering about their religion without coming here to post your intolerance, so why don't you grow a pair and not get so hypersensitive over Mr O'Brien.
