I just read 'Family Legacy' and it led me to watching many of your films. It seemed that your book was a project that meant a lot to you personally. Is that the most personal project you have done? Would you consider turning it into a film?

I didn't think much of Superman series of films but I did enjoy Superman II the most as it got straight into the action and the opening scene was superb.
Your character was silent which meant you had to rely on expressions and you are a great expressionist actor. Do you ever wish that you could ever have starred in a silent movie?

Sorry I haven't answered this soon. Sarah is one of the nicest people in the industry. She is an excellent actor and I have a lot of respect for her ability. Plus she is a very good friend.
Dragnet was a lot of fun to do and your right that was one of my neater lines in my career.
I will be coming back to the screen soon thats a promise and I will keep every one advised.
You will really enjoy Farewell My Lovely it is indeed a classic.

I have long been a fan of your work but knew very little about you until I wandered across your page here at imdb. Thank you for taking the time to respond to your fans questions and comments, it speaks volumes about you as a person. I'll just leave a couple of comments here for you and a wish or two as well.
First, I think it is great that you have remained friends with Sarah Douglas. I am a little envious of you there as I have always thought she was one of the sexiest women alive. I still hold out hope of meeting here someday to find out what she is really like. Second, I am constantly finding ways of inserting my favorite movie lines into conversation and I wanted to thank you for one of the best. Often when someone asks me if I want something I will fire back with "Chewing gum, Snickers bar, and my attorney, badgekisser." Some people laugh and some just give me strange looks, but it amuses me either way.
As for the wishes, the first is that we get to see you on-screen again someday. You always commanded attention when you were on-screen and it would be great for audiences to experience that again. The second wish is really a more specific version of the first, that we could see you in the next Superman sequel. I'll keep my fingers crossed.
I have to run to Blockbuster and see if I can find a copy of Farewell, My Lovely. It sounds like my kind of movie.

That was the first TV show I did. And I did it because William Conrad was a friend of Robert Mitchum.
Now that the strike is over we have several projects under way.

The new digital TV network Retro Television Network (RTN), which is slowly appearing in numerous markets, is airing the TV series "Cannon". By coincidence, the episode "The Wrong Medicine" is airing while I'm writing this message. Even though your appearance was brief, any thoughts on that show. It is interesting to watch past TV series and see notable actors in bit parts, guest starring roles or regulars before getting the one role that everyone remembers you by.
Also, I noticed your production credit for the film "The List". Any other projects in the works?

There's something I've been
dying
to know since I was a kid.
In the beginning of "Dragnet", you grabbed the security guard by his jacket and, after your line "When you wake up" your gripped something on the guard which made him fall asleep.
Did they ever say how that was possible? (in the movie, that is); did your character just knock him out by way of a pressure point or something like that?
I know it's probably a question I should know by now, but I'm still tryin' to figure it out
I figured if anyone would know, it'd be good ol' "Emil Muzz".

Yes I turned them down,when Cubby and his son came to see me in LA.I had signed to do another picture.Which I could have gotten out of but I didn't like the Bond script.They tried very hard to get me to do the film.

I want to know if is it true that Albert Broccoli wanted you for the role of Jaws in The Spy who loved me, back in 1977. Did someone of EON Productions talked with you?, did you make a proof?, is it available?
