Thank you to Heather for speaking up about the use of xanex. Psych meds are a god send for some mentally ill people and are not for people who get their feelings hurt over materialistic cat fights.

Xanax has a half-life of hours. It is metabolized and excreted rapidly. It does not build up a therapeutic level over time.

I wish these women would know what they are talking about. Xanex has alot of uses. Panic disorders, anxiety and also for seizures. I doub111ct that Alexis needed to be put on xanex, as it takes awhile to build up in your blood. It is not a short term medication. Usually doctors prescribe this for months, until it builds up in a patients system.

You do, dear. Fear of flying is an anxiety disorder. Anxiety disorder IS a mental illness. Mental illness is quite common and having one doesn't necessarily mean that you're a nutcase.

I've used Xanex for my insomnia due to fibromyalgia and my fear of flying. Never once have I been told I have a mental or psychiatric illness.

With respect, I think you have BOTH missed the point/are off the mark.
Nobody really understands the depth of anxiety someone is feeling, be it due to what might to outsiders appear as just stupid 'catfights' as per Alexis Bellino or anything else.
It is kind of insulting and ignorant to suggest something is trivial when you don't know how affected a person is by it.
As for the comment 'Xanex is not just for "mentally ill" people, its used for pan1ebcic disorders, social phobia, and for anxiety which we all get at some point', well words fail me.
FYI, all of the above mentioned are mental health disorders.
Panic, anxiety, phobias, OCD etc. are ALL mental health/psychiatric illnesses. The fact that 1 in 4 people suffer from them, ie. they are hugely common does not mean they are something less than a mental health problem, nor should they be underestimated. You don't need to be rocking in the corner of a padded cell to have a mental health illness.
I have suffered from depression, anxiety and panic for 11 years, and nothing about the way they appear to clueless, inexperienced others, nor whether their triggering is perceived as 'trivial' should be up for discussion IMO.
Heather Dubrow was talking out of her over-priveleged ass when she made those self-inflated, hot air comments about Xanax. WTF would she know? That woman lives in a clueless, removed from the real world bubble.
She makes these high and mighty, so-knowledgeable comments that would of course appear intelligent to the airheads she associates with, but in reality, anyone with any experience of mental health or any other subject she waxes lyrical about know better.
I would locate someone more worthy to pour praise on (like Stephen Fry for instance) when it comes to speaking about mental health and treatment of.

Point well taken. I was grouping social phobia & panic attacks under the same umbrella as bi polar, which is what I suffer. I realize there is still much stigma attached to the term "mental illness" but hopely someday we will be past that. However, I still do not agree with Alexis taking Xanex just to calm her down from her fights with ladies she CHOOSES to be around.
