Plese tell that Inspector Lynley has not been axed in England. I love watching
the show. It keeps me guessing who the killer is. Next question, Why did they
kill off Lynley's wife Helen off. They were going to get back together and
going to start a family. I could not believe they did it. I am confessed.
Could someone please tell me why. Will the partners have a affair. They would
make a great couple.

I seem to only get into the series on PBS when it's on during the fund raising days - I didn't see the episode where Helen dies? Got a title anyone? Like you, I think it would have been wonderful to see them together again. I just don't think an affair with Havers would be a good idea - it's nice to see a good working relationship, which is why I think I enjoy Law & Order: SVU so much.

Martina, This show has been shown on PBS. I believe PBS will be showing series 5 something this month or next month. Look on the PBS web page. Also, you can see past episodes of this series from Netflix. Go to Netflix web page and sign up. That is how I was able to see the past episodes and get caught up!

I can't believe this show was cancelled! I haven't seen it, but anything with Nathaniel Parker in it is good! 😄 Does anyone know if it was ever on in the United States and will it be on here again? Or is it cancelled everywhere for good?

Well, BBC decided not to continue the series which is indeed a pity. I also loved it!
Concerning the next questions:

  • His wife Helen is killed because Elizabeth George, the author of the Lynley-Mysteries wrote that. Why she did it nobody can tell (except her), but if you read the books you will notice that she has a certain addiction to tragic/complicated private stories of Lynley (as well as of Havers).
  • Till the recent book, E. George did not let the partners have an affair, and I do not think it will happen. Definitely not in the TV-series (Nathaniel Parker mentioned that), and it is not very likely to happen in the books.

Sadly Inspector Lynley Mysteries is being canceled. Nat even said there should have been a show tying up loose ends but alas not even that.

Im not rightly sure why they killed Helen Lynley or if Havers and Lynley will get together.
My crummy PBS station only shows season 1 & 2 repeatedly so Im not even privileged to know what the subsequent seasons offer unless I rent or buy the series.

P.S. If you wouldnt mind, please add a SPOILER warning to your title. It 2000was a shock that I found out about Helens death from an unannounced spoiler from the BBC site. It ruined the series for me.
