There is not much written about Pauletta Washington that is not in connection to her husband, Denzel, but she was a legit actress before she married him. A friend of mine, Broadway star, Jean DuShon, said she did an off-Broadway show with Pauletta Pearson called "The Crystal Tree." Also in that one was Ira Hawkins (another old friend) who went on to star in "Timbuktu" with Eartha Kitt and Melba Moore on The Great White Way. DuShon starred on Broadway in "What The Wine Sellers Buy," "Bubbling Brown Sugar" and "Blues In The Night."
Jean says that Pauletta was a "good actress" and probably would have gone on to better things (on the stage) if she hadn't given up her career for marriage.
I really adore the way she supports her husband; it appears to be one of those rare happy Hollywood marriages.
On Jean's Yahoo Group, there is a group picture from "Crystal Tree." You can find it here: http://www.yahoogroups.com/group/jeandushon

I always thought she should've worked more. For some odd reason (I have no basis really for thisjust an opinion) I feel like Denzel didn't support her career. I don't think it would've been difficult for her to get workespecially if her husband helped her get roles (not that she would've needed it early on).
Again, I don't have any proof of this, but it seems like he held her back a bit.
From the very few scenes I've seen her in, she seemed really talented and deserved more work.
Or she wanted to be a homebody and raise the kidswho knows.
