It's 4:30 in the morning and I couldn't sleep, so I saw The Matrix was on and decided to watch it. In the scene where Trinity and Neo enter the building to save Morpheus they start killing the guards I could swear one of the guards in the white shirts was Kal Penn. I noticed just as he was getting shot, but when I went to hit the rewind button to check I hit the number 2 and I changed channels, so I could no longer rewind it and look. The time line would fit considering he hadn't had many rolls by 1999, and there would be no need to credit him in the cast here on IMDB. Can someone with The Matrix on DVR or DVD check that point of the movie and tell me I'm not crazy???

I just watched the scene and can say with confidence that the guard who's shot holding the newspaper is definitely NOT Kal Penn. I paused, zoomed and closely examined the man you're referring to and don't see any resemblance to Penn. Sorry.

Here's the scene:
I think the guy you're talking about is at :28 seconds, and he looks a bit older than 21 (the age Kal would have been when it was filmed).
In that one second of screen time (and then a few seconds later when bullets are ripping through him and his newspaper), it's clear that there is a passing resemblance between that man and Kal Penn, but definitely not him.
