Cases in point are some of his scenes in series 1 of Silk.  I was generally more impressed with him in that series than I was with him in Spooks, although it was that series that basically introduced me to him.<br />
And the same thing with his efforts in series 1 &amp; 2 of Whitechapel over Spooks.<br />
It seems as though he is capable of rising to meet the challenge when acting opposite other notable talent.<br />
By the way, I still haven't figured out when series 3 of Whitechapel ran in the States &amp; how I missed it!</p>

<p dir="auto">True, that is exactly right.<br />
Rupert really knows how to command the screen because he has talent, and it shows especially when he makes an effort.<br />
Therefore, if you give him a decent script and adequate direction and proper motivation, then Rupert is likely to make an effort to perform well, and then nobody could claim anything other than the notion that he's actually not a bad actor.<br />
