So according to this article (sorry, you have to get about half way through it before the relevant stuff starts) RPJ is doing Jerry Bruckheimer's next pilot for ABC?and it's a cop show? Lamer than lame.
http://www.hitfix.com/articles/2009-3-9-firefly-star-leads-abc-s-v-inv asion/
I truly wish RPJ success in his career, and like many British working actors today (Damian Lewis, James Purefoy, Sean Bean, etc.), I guess to him that means making an American network pilot/show. But does he have to keep doing television? I find it hard to believe no one wants him in a feature film on either side of the pond. And if he goes down the tv road again, does it have to be on a crappy network like ABC that doesn't give shows a chance (The cop show I've been watching on ABC this season just got canceled)? JB has CSI in all its iterations, Cold Case and Without a Traceand some other cop shows I'm sure I'm missing. No offense, but they're not exactly the most sophisticated, innovative shows. I guess I'm just leery. I really hope it is a fantastic show that does very well for him, but it just doesn't seem like the best fit for him.

Rupert has stated that he would not accept any more movie roles, unless he gets to play the lead. Maybe he hasn't been offered lead roles. He has a better chance of being offered good movie roles if he does some TV in the States.
But he does say a lot of things and then does the exact opposite. You can't be too choosy as an actor and I guess his role in Spooks stereotyped him a bit as well. Matthew McFadyen left Spooks after only 2 series because he was afraid that would happen to him.
