One of the great character actors. I've enjoyed his work for 50 years now. As a child, I was captivated by his occasional appearances in
The Untouchables
. Since then, I've seen him in many parts, large and small. He is always superb.

Thanks for the interview. I've been watching a lot of 60s TV on DVD and I appreciate Mr. Persoff's acting talents more than ever. He is absolutely brilliant. In the hands of a lesser actor, some of the scripts he did would not have worked. The guy is incredible.

Persoff was brilliant in the Hawaii Five-O episode "Will the Real Mr. Winkler Please Die?" and everything else he ever did. A truly great actor.

I agree, BIG-time. Just saw Mr. P. on RetroPlex in an episode of "Marcus Welby, MD." As usual, he was excellent. Don't know how many times I've seen his work over the years, but I can't recall ANY performance in which he was not absolutely credible:)

Persoff holds one record on The Untouchablesthe most times being billed as a Special Guest Star with five.
UNLESS you count Jonathan Harris, who spent three entire SEASONS billed as "Special Guest Star" in the '60's camp sci-fi TV show, "Lost in Space."
(PS) A few minutes after posting the above, it dawned on me that you probably meant that of all "The Untouchables" "Special Guest Stars," Persoff appeared the most in that one TV show. Not the first time I've posted without thinking everything through, and surely not the last!

This seems to be a general fan thread. So here's to Nehemiah Persoff. He is one of the all-time great character actors. And his 190 IMDb credits reflect that.
190!
Thanks.

I wonder if Persoff ever paints any of his film or TV roles. I'd love to have one of him as Jake Guzik and Bruce Gordon as Frank Nitti on The Untouchables. Those two were the Mick Jagger and Keith Richards of TV villains.

Whereabouts in Connecticut? I left there ( Bridgeport-bleh! ) 43 years ago and haven't regretted it one bit. I too, am a huge fan of the P-man. I'm watching him right now, in an episode of ' The Untouchables '. In fact, it's also got three of my other all time favorites in it; Leo Gordon, Jack Warden and Norman Alden ( I'm in Heaven! ). I never get tired of watching Persoff work, never.
P.S. From your other posts, it appears as though you have pretty good taste. Not a whole lot of that on these boards.

What a lucky person you are. I live on the east coast ( Connecticut), but I wish I could be there to see him perform. H e was never a leading star, but he is truly one of the great character actors of hollywood. You just have to love him for his dedication to his craft. God bless you Mr. Peresoff and many thanks for the great body of work you left us. Best of luck with your paintings. I've seen web pictures of them and they are fantastic. Rich
