I write lots of reviews for imdb and amazon.com (which I've been doing since 1999). In all that time, John is the only person who ever wrote to thank me for my comments on his work. It was late 2000 and he sent me an email thanking me for my positive review of "Trick" and saying that I "got" what they were trying to do in the movie.
I say all this not to compliment myself but to point out what a cool guy he is for taking the time out to show his appreciation to a mere anonymous blogger.
That meant a lot to me and I've never forgotten it. A classy guy.
