Those eyes; I'll never forget those eyes..
I first discovered those gorgeous,
amazing
eyes, when Valerie Quennessen, as Lina, appears to Michael (played by Peter Gallagher) on a beach off the beautiful Aegean Sea at the beginning of the movie,
Summer Lovers
.
Were her eyes
green
? Were they
blue
? To tell you the truth, even to this day I'm not quite sure.
But you know what? It doesn't really matter. Because whatever the color, they were
absolutely
S
T
U
N
N
I
N
G
!!
And Michael's reaction, upon first seeing
those eyes
, is utterly priceless! Without saying a word, his involuntary, almost comical double-take gives him away as he desperately tries to look somewhere,
anywhere
, but back into those
amazing
eyes! It goes without saying, of course, that he fails
miserably
!
Unfortunately, like a refreshing cool rain that drifts in on a hot summer's day, she was gone all too soon. And just barely into her 30's. What a
shame
But rather than dwell on the negative, instead I encourage anyone who has never seen Ms. Quennessen's three American releases,
Summer Lovers
,
Conan The Barbarian
, and
French Postcards
(my all-time fave, and now,
finally
, available on dvd for the first time); to enjoy the wonder of this enchanting actress in her prime.
Valerie, thank you for the beautiful memories!
Like your lovely
eyes
, they haunt us still

Elsa-Louise Manceaux, Valrie's daughter, born 1985, lives in Holland where she works as a designer. She has inherited much of her mother's beauty and her wonderful eyes.

I just saw this movie in high-def(though not in wide-screen). She really did have beautiful eyes. I was shocked to learn she was killed in a road accident. I thought it was a real nice film.

I too consider Valerie Quennessen's eyes to be strikingly luminous and magnetic. She was such a lovely, talented and charismatic actress who died way too young.

Happy to know there is someone else out these who also feels the same way about Valerie Quennessen's eyes!
They are STUNNING! I have never in all my years of living seen eyes as remarkable as them!
RIP Valerie Quennessen! You are missed!
