I used to go to Woodingdean Primary School up until 1967 and then I went to Longhill Secondary School. There was a boy in the year above me called Trevor Herrington and when he was in the fifth year - and going out with one of the girls in his class - there was talk of him spending a lot of time with a girl called Amanda Redman and how he was always saying she was his cousin and attending drama school.I remember that she was really nice and very pretty. I have been wondering about this for such a long time and so when I realized that she had been on "Who Do You Think You Are?" - although I unfortunately missed her show, I read the profile this evening and saw that they were, indeed related! It didn't surprise me to hear that the family thought the Herringtons were cursed as the guy at school lived with his Dad and his younger brother lived with his mother and he was pretty crazy and very loud and yet a teacher at out school who taught him when he was at Rudyard Kipling said he was really withdrawn, almost like a zombie and for a long time refused to speak at all. (He was also a brilliant runner and used to comptete regularly with Steve Ovett - but gave it up for the good life:) I guessed that the family had a lot of problems. I also wish I looked as good as Amanda Some of my friends went to Varndean Grammer School and my brothers went to Rottingdean Primary.

For example: I have a common surname and my given name is also in wide usage. Unlike numbers, names are not unique! They can be copied and shared and duplicated without consequences, other than confusion.
Specifically, I have found that there are TWENTY-SIX customers at a film developing outlet that share my name; there are ELEVEN patients at a local medical clinic that share my name; there are THREE voters in my local precinct that share my name. The odds are such that there is a student in every single school building that shares my name. However, NOT ONE of those folks is ME!!!!
I wish that folks could understand that not everyone named Tony Blair was PM, not everyone named Gordon Brown is PM, not everyone named Bill Clinton was president, not everyone named Shirley Black was a child star, not everyone named Peter Marshall was Senate Chaplain, not everyone named George Marshall was a general, not everyone named Billy Graham is an evangelist, not everyone named James Madison was a Founding Father, and not everyone named Amanda Redman appears on New Tricks.
Common names are common names; they do not signify any proof onto themselves! In fact, the odds are NOT IN YOUR FAVOR that the "famous name" you recall in your past IS the same "famous name" of today!
[Also, our minds play tricks in order to make certain things true; such as: a child in your past may have actually been named Angela Redman or Amanda Redmond but you remember it as Amanda Redman, because that is how you wish to remember the name! Therefore, we need to be careful because we can do harm with false memory; especially if one has to change birthdates, color of hair, relatives in the family, etc., to make a version "fit." That is not fair to the person in question, or their families!] I am certain that Emily agrees!

Amanda Redman is nowhere near 60 and she did not attend Rottingdean School. Do get your facts straight about SOMEONE ELSE'S life before posting them on the internet.

There is NO WAY that amanda redman could be nearly 60!!! you are living in some kind of parallel universe! maybe there are other people in this world who are called amanda redman, it is possible you know! there's a woman in my town with exactly the same name as me so don't go jumping to conclusions.
