<p dir="auto">Only he can answer that but if you're interested I recommend last year's (?) THR segment where a notable bunch of directors were interviewed for over an hour, you can google and find the whole video online (includes Reitman, Alexander Payne, Hazanavicius etc big directors of 2011 awards season). Reitman starts things off early on being heard most of the time until the other guests warm up and the influence question which itself gets questioned by Alexander Payne is thrown out there and Reitman jokingly mentions chasing Alexander Payne and I can see that or his particular influence; just re-watched Up in the Air an hour ago and that film in particular I felt had a lot of connection with the works of Alexander Payne.</p>
