She is, in my opinion, one of those "true" actresses. The good ones are more difficult to spot, because their own personality doesn't come through in their performances. Their own little facial ticks and mannerisms are lost, and so you don't often even realise they are who they are. You only see the character. Pity the people of this calibre are often overlooked for the celebrity types who get oscars for wincing or screaming at the camera.

Agreed. It's a rare film/TV actress who can move so seamlessly between genres, especially ridiculous comedy and gritty drama. Go Amy Ryan!!

Yeah, she's a different type of character in Changeling than she is in The Office. Amy Ryan is great when it comes to comedy, but my experience with her work has taught me that she positively shines as a dramatic actress.
