I had never heard of Dougray Scott before watching Hemlock Grove. Early on I kept trying to figure out why he seemed half asleep in all of his scenes. Is he a bad actor? Does he just have no enthusiasm for the poor dialogue? Then I realized that there's no beep way this actor has an American accent. Sure enough, I bring up his wiki to find out he's Scottish, Just like how Joseph Fiennes can only do a "punched in the chest" vda0oice when speaking with an American accent, Dougray Scott can only speak in a single boring tone. It's a damn shame because I kinda like the timbre in his voice, so for goodness sake get a beep language coach, Dougray! He just needs practice. Lot's and lots of practice, cuz his performance in Hemlock Grove is pretty damn distracting and only adds to the flaws of the show.

It's gotten much better in the 2nd season of
Hemlock Grove
I think. He's had more practice now, it seems.
