I bought a lot of movie props from the old days of hollywood.
In it was a Revolutionary war type uniform worn by the british, Red Wool with blue lapels and very well made by the Western Hollywood costume company.
The name tag in the neck read "Gene Sheldon"
It was un noticed by everyone but Me so I bought the coat.
I am now curious if he ever wore such a coat in any movie.
The coat is old but still in good condition.
It is so well done that if it were not for the hollywood costume label You would almost believe this was an original uniform.

I think I've found your answer, maverick3855. I'm watching the Fox Movie Channel right now, a 1945 movie called "Where Do We Go From Here?" It stars Fred MacMurray, and it's a wild script: MacMurray plays a 4-F soldier in WWII who finds, and releases from his bottle, a genie (Gene Sheldon). MacMurray asks to be part of the War, and Gene Sheldon keeps sending him off to different time periods, including the Revolutionary War. That's the part of the film where Sheldon is seen in a British red coat.

Could his character have worn one in Babes in Toyland?? I'll check the dvd.
Perhaps he wore it in one of his clown roles?
I dunno.if it's a soldier role, I'd love to see the flick!
