People lie for attention all the time, sweetie, and sometimes it's just for wishful thinking. Do not be so trusting on the intertubes

On another board a guy spoke of meeting James in a gay bar. If he's telling the truth and I don't see why he would lie I'd say that's pretty good evidence.

I didn't know that John Wesley Shipp was gay. He is a good looking man.

I have heard that Wesley Shipp is gay. I remember years ago him being in a Gay Pride parade in NYC. So I am pretty sure he is out. I know nothing of the other actor though.

It's a rumour that's been doing the rounds since forever. Both men named in the story have politely stated there's no truth to it so many times I'm sure they've lost count (and patience, I wouldn't wonder).
Wikipedia's a lot like the FAQ pages here at IMDb many people post opinion or rumour as if it's fact. They may not mean to gossip or mislead, but they don't think critically about the claims they're making. You have to choose judiciously what you're going to believe.

You posted this December of 2009. Did you not go thru the other postings and see that John himself wrote a post called John Wesley Shipp, why I left Creek back in 2007. He gives a thorough explanation to try to clear up the exact thing you just posted about. This was also stated in an interview with him on a website about the show, The Flash. Wikipedia is not a website you can rely on for accurate info. Anyone can put stuff on that website.
