When the show was in prime time, I too hated the little witch. Wanted to slap her face. Now I just think she was a smart ass. Kind of the Greek chorus of that show. When you've mellowed you'll find it funny in retrospect.

Agreed, as well. It would be harsh if she was real and tormented her brother the way that she did, but in the context of a sitcom, a very funny character.

Exactly. She was just a character. A funny one at that. And I loved her natural style, especially in the first season. Often she'd laugh real laughs. I love that. Hell, I don't expect it to be Good Times quality acting. Just a fun show I used to watch in the late 70s and early 80s when I got home from school. And she was a big part of it. Funny little lady. Well, she's a year older than me now. How time flies!!

I loved Dee. She was so funny. If she was a real person, I would be very annoyed, but she's not so I thought she was funny.

That asideummmmm.Danielle Spencer was 11, 12 years old on "What's Happening"Thelma was in her 20s on "Good Times". Maybe nobody had a "crush" on Dee was due to the fact that she was a CHILD!!! And frankly, Janet was adorable on "Good Times" (also a CHILD) and the only crushes may have been from children (or perverted adults). Wow! It has nothing to do with hate. She was annoying!!! I knew people back in the day who had crushes on Janet Jackson and the one who played Thelma when they were on "Good Times," but I don't remember ANYBODY who had a crush on Dee.
Dee was most snitching-est brat ever. The most annoying black character in TV history, until Urkel took her title.

Dee honestly said what she felt and, although she was often a little smart-ass, she told it like it was and that's why I loved her. Try getting into a pissing contest with her and you'll get pissed on!

She might not have been the best actress, but it came naturally and it sounded natural. It never sounded rehearsed. You must admit. That's also what made it funny.
