Over the last several years I have a tradition of buying a cd copy of Donna's Christmas Spirit when I see it in the stores and giving it to someone each Christmas. I started doing this for 2 reasons To expose someone to a nice traditional Christmas album and show a different side of Donna (I'll admit to hearing Salsoul Orchestra's Christmas Jollies in my head when I heard Donna was releasing a Christmas album!). The other reason was simply if the store didn't sell it they may not order it again! I'm sure everyone still reading this post knows all about the spiritual music on Donna's Christmas cd and we all know someone in our family or a co-worker that would LOVE it! I almost was sure that this year the cd would go up in price, but to my surprise I found it at Best Buy for only $4.99. When I checked out it rang up for only $3.99! I urge all Donna fans to seek a copy out and give it as a gift this year!

I have seen it everywhere in the past few years - even at that cash register at my local Walgreen's Pharmacy - for no more than $5. I did buy it when it first came out in 1994 (I don't even remember any promotion for it) and it has been one of my favorites since then.
It's too bad she never got the chance to sing with the Tenors in Vienna as Diana Ross, Dionne Warwick, and many others did over the past 20 years. Her voice - with Placido Domingo and/or Jose Carreras - would have soared.

It's one of my favourite Donna Summer albums, regardless of the Christmas theme.
