All I know is that he directed The Gate. and that's good enough for me. That's a childhood treasure of mine and even in that film there was dark humor. He knows how to make a true B film like the days of the 40's and 50's.

Humor in Sci-Fi films comes in many different flavors. Some of those flavors are an acquired taste not for everyone. Ice Spiders was always intended as a kind of spoof from the title on down. Not all Sci-Fi fans are alike. Sometimes marketers get greedy and don't want to give the audience enough clues on the box or in the trailer to be able to make a decision in advance as to what flavour of film they are buying.

I don't know about those two but if you ever see Ice Spiders you will hope he never makes another movie again
