The film is "The Young Guns" (1956). It's not on DVD. It's on Turner Classic Movies every few months or so. Last time was yesterday, 12/30/2013.

Are you thinking of CIMARRON(1960) or maybe THE FASTEST GUN ALIVE (1956)? Russ was in both with Glenn Ford. In CIMARRON he was in a gang with Vic Morrow. Both good movies
