Because he knows it'll be over after that. The guy is a parasite that should have been building up his comedy resume so he wouldn't be exposed as the crusty old mold on SNL after all these years. He's trying to go for the record of longest cast member on the show, which is like saying you're the best adult diaper wearer. The show doesn't pay THAT well from what I understand.
He's trying to milk this all he can, because he knows there's nothing left but playing roles like a dad on a Nickelodeon sitcom, which will be hilariously ironic to come back full circle to.
