Well, I can't say I really am. I mean, I just heard of him this past year! My dad, HUGE genealogy guy, been into since he was young, just mentioned him this year. Anyways, this guy happens to be my grandpa's cousin.
But anyways, this guy has been in A LOT of stuff. I'm a little bit surprised no one has said anything! Though, he is an "old actor." Most of his fans are probably the older folks.
Sad he's passed away. Would've been interesting to meet him.
{Edited to sound less like a young, dumb kid who's just bragging, ha. Also, seen a lot of his movies since I've posted this. My dad is surely happy to have another fan in the family and says my grandpa would've been proud as well. It was a family affair for him to watch his stuff growing up. My grandpa was always excited and readily pointed to Marshall to say they're related, haha}

I've been a fan for most of my life. I saw Cult of the Cobra when it came out in 1955 but was too young (age 9) to be cognizant of who's who. A few year's later I started recognizing performers in their various endeavors. It! the Terror from Beyond Space made quite an impression on me when it was finally shown on TV as I had missed it in the movies.
By then I was seeing a lot of movies run on TV and I became a fan of Marshall Thompson.
Daktari was fun to watch.
I recently watched some episodes of Angel on YouTube but, unfortunately, my reaction to the French actress was "Please get back on the boat and go home."
What brings me back to this page now (Aug 2015) is watching old episodes of Science Fiction Theater (1955-1957) on YouTube and seeing Marshall Thompson in numerous episodes. Turns out he was in 7 episodes out of 78, matched only by Michael Fox (Dr Hoxie on Perry Mason).

The Human Circuit (1956) Dr. Albert Neville

Three Minute Mile (1956) Prof. Nat Kendall

The Human Experiment (1956) Dr. Tom MacDougal

Bullet Proof (1956) Jim Connors

Target Hurricane (1955) James Tyler

The Frozen Sound (1955) Dr. David J. Masters

Stranger in the Desert (1955) Gil Collins
Fans are invited to look up the episodes on YouTube and enjoy a trip down memory land.

Greetings from Alaska, I have enjoyed Mr. Thompson's films since I was a kid in the sixties. I have always liked his obvious sense of wonderin every role he brought his best. A very admirable trait. I would have liked to have known him.

Yes, it's very refreshing to see one of Marshall's performances at any stage of his career, from those 1940's dramas to his swan song television role on "Murder, She Wrote: The Error of Her Ways" (1989).
Well, Marshall Thompson calms his scenes with his commanding yet soft-spoken delivery, his authoritative presence and his knac5b4k for expressing care and concern to his co-starring characters.
So, yes, it's also very sad to have lost him at a relatively young age, but Marshall will be remembered for his many fine contributions to film and television throughout his kindhearted, versatile and prolific career.
If Sheridan were here, he'd be appalled.

In the bio they said he did a "Yeomans job", i guess that means he worked hard & pulled his weight. While he is not a Cary Grant or Errol Flynn he did a good job. I was about 5 or 6 when Daktari started. While now it is a distant blur I watched it weekly. I remember the song Clarence the Cross Eyed Lion, a bit but have not heard it for 45 years.
My two favorites were "It The terror." & "Fiend w/o a Face". I saw It when I was 5 or 6 & it was way scarier than The Thing from another world or Them!. Fiend w/o a Face was less scary but still good.
On the directors track on Fiend, Kim Parker & many of the rest were out partying & makin friends. Marshall stayed in his hotel read & wrote letters to his wife & was just a clean cut nice guy.
It the Terror was pretty much copied for Alien, if u have not seen this, it is a good read also.
I love classic sci/fi so I see IT & Fiend once or twice a year & when the movie start it is like an old familiar face.

Yeah, a very underrated actor. Never quite had that "star" quality, but always solid. The kind of actor, when you see him you say: "Yeah, that guy. What's his name again?" Then you hear it and go: "Oh, yeah, that's right."

Any fans? I AM a Marshall Thompson fan!!!!!! My parents could not pry me away from the T.V. when Daktari was on. And yes, I am an older folk {only on the outside; still young on the inside} My friends and my family surely were tired of hearing about Marshall Thompson. When I was just a kid I found out he was born in Peoria, Ill. and I was so happy because at the time I lived only a few miles from there. It was harder to find out information in those days but from bits and pieces I read what a wonderful guy he was! It broke my heart to read he passed away. He is still my hero!!!

I need to check up more!
Well, add me to the fan group now. I checked out some of his stuff and I'm now a fan =). Nice to know of others! He sounds like a great guy. I wish I knew him in real life, but I was just 4 at the time he died, so I probably would have no idea who he was, ha.

I remember him from classic sci-fi movies like "It: The Terror from Beyond Space". He is probably best remembered for the TV series, "Daktari!" from the mid-1960s. He was a very good actor for many years.

Hey, a reply!
Well how cool.
I haven't had the pleasure of watching his stuff yet, but I hope to someday.
Edit: I guess there was another reply in the past, which I just caught. Oh well.
I'm a fan. And I'm not old. I'm a twenty-two year old female. I first saw him in the movie, Roseanna McCoy, thought he was hot, then watched a bunch of other movies of his from his younger years.

Yes,I am a fan;his sci-fi stuff i grew up on.He possesses a type of warmth which is hard to explain.
He is a everyman,a fella who is likable. He gets the job done, perhaps in his own way.
I was surprised he died in the same hospital my Mom and Stepdad did!
His other material is noteworthy-as Daktari,Flipper, etc. These are capable roles and at the same engaging.
He is to be missed.
