<p dir="auto">Liv is pronounced like "Leave" (as in "I want to leave"), not like "Leafe".<br />

<p dir="auto">Well, the English 'v' isn't pronounced exactly like the Norwegian 'v'.<br />
The English 'v' is a voiced labiodental fricative, and the Norwegian 'v' is a labiodental approximant.<br />
<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Voiced_labiodental_fricative" rel="nofollow ugc">http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Voiced_labiodental_fricative</a><br />
<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Labiodental_approximant" rel="nofollow ugc">http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Labiodental_approximant</a><br />
So to a Norwegian's ear, the English 'v' can sometimes sound a bit like an 'f'.<br />
(The 'f' is by the way a voiceless labiodental fricative in both languages.)<br />
I guess all that was really confusing, but never mind, keep pronouncing 'Liv' as 'leave'. That is perfectly fine. <img src="https://filmglance.com/discuss/assets/plugins/nodebb-plugin-emoji/emoji/android/1f642.png?v=8570fb93240" class="not-responsive emoji emoji-android emoji--slightly_smiling_face" style="height:23px;width:auto;vertical-align:middle" title=":)" alt="🙂" /></p>

<p dir="auto">I'm not sure about other dialects but in mine and most I have heard the "ve" is pronounced in the same manner as a Norwegian "v" and not like an "f". Are you not confusing "leave" with "leaves" which some pronounce as "leafs"?<br />
"Nothings gonna change my world!"</p>

<p dir="auto">yeah. "leave" is close enough, but the "ve" shouldnt sound so much like an "f" if u get what I mean <img src="https://filmglance.com/discuss/assets/plugins/nodebb-plugin-emoji/emoji/android/1f642.png?v=8570fb93240" class="not-responsive emoji emoji-android emoji--slightly_smiling_face" style="height:23px;width:auto;vertical-align:middle" title=":)" alt="🙂" /></p>
