What are Liv's top 5 performances?
I've only seen a few (and I got to see her live in the flesh in an interview amazinnngggg!!!!)
From the hearsay/critical acclaim - I've surmised that it is:

Face to Face (1976 Oscar nom and critics' favourite to win but lost to Faye Dunaway, an equally iconic actress) [haven't seen, and unavailable on DVD :-(]

Persona (Bergman's seminal, most influential film)

Cries and Whispers / Autumn Sonata, both amazing "support" performances I love the scene in which she is criticising Ingrid Bergman's mothering skills. So moving and histrionics overload delicious. I've noticed that Liv is really capable of playing cliched characters/stock characters but putting a more psychological and nuanced spin on them.

The Emigrants (1st Oscar nom, losing to Liza Minnelli in the marvellous Cabaret)

Scenes From a Marriage (an overlooked Bergman film and performance).
I've only seen Cries and Whispers and parts of Autumn, so I cannot judge! But what do fans think?
BTW, though I love and appreciate Faye Dunaway and Liza Minnelli, and few 2000they both deservedly won their Oscars for their respective films in their years, as well as careers.
I believe LIV ULLMANN is MORE of an actress and 'artist'! She 'seems' more intellectual and exciting, even now with her 'flailing' directing career.
But Faye has iconic, renowned Hollywood classical performances in Bonnie & Clyde, Chinatown and Network as well as the great Joan Crawford bio-pic.
Liza is superb in Cabaret!
Meanwhile LIV, is more the actor's actor, the film fanatic's actor!
