The scrapbook on her webpage has a couple of pictures of someone she identifies as her husband - and I think she means that in the present tense.

In 1995 Vanity married football player Anthony Smith of the Oakland Raiders, but they divorced the following year.
Denise "Vanity" Matthews passed away on February 15, 2016 at the age of 57. Matthews suffered from sclerosing encapsulating peritonitis, a rare complication of a peritoneal dialysis.
