Recently I saw an 2000interview, in which he said that he wants to focus on movies (not TV) as it gives him the opportunity to play a variety of characters.
I started watching Smallville in June 2014 (due to the summer TV hiatus) and I didn't think that I was going to like it that much. (Yes, it has quite a few cheesy moments, but there's more cool stuff, so ) Season 9 is now almost over and - despite his really good and likeable portrait of Clark Kent - his acting as a villain (e.g. as Bizarro or Clark Luthor) is . amazing!
So, would you like to see him as a villain in a movie?
What would you have in mind? Or what did you like the most regarding his previous work?
And what do you think, Tom (just in case you're reading this)?

I think he'd be a good villain but because of his size, he'd be the 2nd in command more so than mastermind, I really like Tom but he ain't exactly Kevin Spacey.

Definitely! His charisma could mask an evil or villianous side within! He would be awesome at that type of role. Hope we get to see him do this one day!

I think he would be a good villain not only is he handsome he is also a big guy. So he could lore his victims in with charm and easily over power them once alone

True! I totally forgot about the episode in which Clark and Lionel change bodies. I think this was the first time that I was really impressed by his acting

He would be an awesome villian! He plays off character very well! Bad Clark and when he became Lionel in "Transference" was some of his best work. If you have not seen season 10 then you are in for a treat! When he plays Clark Luthor, he really shines. Yes Smallville has a lot of cheesy moments but that is how the writers wanted it because that's how many of the comics were written. Tom Welling grew as an actor so much in ten years of being Clark Kent. The series finale is the BEST series finale I have ever seen. His ability to play the evil/bad character is amazing given his Clark Kent persona was always hesitant and thoughtful with his growth into Superman. One day I hope he gets the chance to be a villian on the big screen!
