As much as I hate for Stefan to die, I'd rather him die than be stuck without his only living relative once Damon croaks of old age after becoming a stupid human and best of all he doesn't have to suffer through the curse of having to spend eternity with the community bicycle of Mystic Falls.

Don't worry, something about Damon's behavior tells me he has a plan.
Even if not, the writers are just upping the drama. I'm sure the show will end with Delena dancing on Stefan's grave.

Maybe you did miss something. Sybil hijacked his memories and replaced Elena with herself.

All that's probably gonna happen is that they're gonna put him in a coffin until they can find a way to save him. Unfortunatly it sounds like Stefan is gonna become Sybils new playtoy.
