I've noticed that while Henry Winkler of Happy Days is thankful for the opportunity to have played the role of Arthur "The Fonz" Fonzarelli, Jaleel White doesn't either talk about his role as Steve Urkel on Family Matters very much or he shuns his past as the nerd.

Some of the "Happy Days" producers also worked on "Family Matters". The shows had many similarities.

I think that the original intention of this thread was to point out that both the Fonz and Urkel began as one-time guest appearances on the show, but became the hit of the show and eventually the main star. How many others can you think of? I know this one was always an original cast member, but J.J. from "Good Times" comes to mind as a character who eventually overshadowed all the others (some even called it "The J.J. Show") Besides him there's 'Gopher' from "Love Boat", 'Vinnie Barbarino' from "Welcome Back Kotter", 'Ponch' from "CHIPS", 'Joey' from "Blossom", and others.

If I had to choose which one to date the Fonz or Steve Urkel I would choose Steve Urkel in a heartbeat. Cause he was a kind good hearted person and The Fonz was hung up on hisself.

I can't say I wanted to them marry and in fact I believe having them involed was a mistake. But the biggest was ABC letting the show go to CBS.
BTW was there any real ending to the show or 238was just [pulled from CBS?
I've had a pain in the a$$ for the past 45 years! You got any soup for that?
