real cool, classy, the epitome of upscale taste
they don't make em like that anymore. for me he represents that generation so well, gray suits and cocktails before dinner lounging around on 1950s furniture
also, the way stars handled themselves back then is surely a missing art now. i say the 80s is when it changed, ripped jeans and latex and all that. but in andy's era men were men and acted accordingly, and everyone conducted themselves with comp2000ortment and class/manners.
so when i hear his music this is what i think about. those days of good cheer and better social atmospheres.
not to mention the music was just damn delightful, engaging, smooth and captivating.
yes, those were the days

Yes, he is. He is fantastic.
Andy may not do a lot of original material nor take original career paths, but he is still unique as he still delights audiences with cover versions and the crooner routine wherever he goes. He also embraces bad politics but was at least a friend for a while to poor Ethel, who embraces good politics. He may have a blind spot for bad girls, but at least he gets away from them while he still has the chance.
No wonder why Andy Williams has many fans, because even though some fans out there on his message board who say that they cannot stand his singing, his attitude and his decision-making process, there are still some who say that he is likable and sings all right. Even when he loses his voice, you still gotta like him.

What wonderful memories of Andy Williams, RF. I could listen to him all day, as well.
A radio station has just played someone else's cover version of "Moon River," which, of course, proves Andy all the more talented; you just miss him when anyone else attempts to imitate. (Of course, no one measures up to our gifted Andy Williams.)
It would be nice to see some sort of definitive Discography database site (along the lines of IM5b4Db, for films/television), but most are about as incomplete as Bibliography database sites (for books/authors).
Whereas IMDb achieves a near-complete reference guide for its subjects (several nationally-renowned performers don't have pages here, and nobody explains why) Discography and Bibliography internet sites are generally filled with those of whom nobody has hitherto heard, while obviously lacking many greats.
Well, Andy Williams is certainly an all-time great, so it's always refreshing to hear others to sing his praises.

Tis the season!
He appeared in a skit for a very short while in the early seventies before I started first grade ('72), on Captain Kangaroo, called 'Andy and the Bear' where he interracted with somebody in a bear costume, and I suppose Andy would sing to the bear. It was a real looking (!) bear costume, not Dancing Bear that used to be on Captain Kangaroo and looked like a giant teddy bear.
That was where I first heard him sing and I have always been a fan. Find him singing where you can, be it Moon River or the theme to "where the Red Fern Grows" but he is well worth it.
I'm watching the ETV Christmas special about him now that airs every year about this time.
