Did you know "Moon River" was never a hit for Andy Williams? It's true. I had Mr. Williams on my radio program last summer and he told me the whole story. " BREAKFAST AT TIFFANY'S" was being shot and the writers of Moon River, which was a song in the movie, came in to eat at a place in Beverly Hills. Andy Williams just happened to be there as well. After a short talk it was suggested that Mr. Williams should record the song some day. Later after the release of the movie, Moon river was nononated for an Oscar. Mr. Williams was asked to preform it at the Oscar's. He told his record company this might be the best time to record the song. It became part of a movie theme album. The day after his preformance on the Oscar's the album sold over 500,000 copies. However Moon River was never released as a single. The song was used later as the theme song for his television show.

As it seems you are all Andy fans as I am and I thought I had all his music on vinyl and CD. However it appears not all his recordings were released in Australia and I am looking for any CD compilations with The Impossible Dream (The Quest) included. I have been an Andy fan since I first heard him when I was 16. I am now 67.
I have always regarded him as the best there is and regret that I never had the chance to see a live show. I watched the TV show every chance and hope that
some day someone will make a DVD or similar of these.
Enjoyed reading your comments.
Regards from Australia.

It's a shame because Andy's version of Moon River is the best around. When you mention the song to peoplethey think of Andy Williams.
