I'm 17, and got into Brian's music recently. I used to think of the Beach Boys as a 60's surfer rock band (I've heard, and liked, most of their singles throughout the years). Of course, my opinion of them changed drastically when I started digging more into their music, and after I listened to "Pet Sounds" for the first time, I became a big fan of Brian Wilson, and have regarded him as a musical genius ever since!

15, I got into them by my self, my dad loves the beatles and I can't stand them, beach boys could destroy them anyday. I love their surf stuff, petsounds is great, Surf's up: Til I die, a day in the life of a tree, and surf's up are some of the best songs I have ever heard, and Good Vibrations which I consider to be the best song ever made.
I can remember always listening to my mom's vinyl Beach Boy records when I was little, haha! I am currently doing a research paper in college about The Beach Boys and their influence on music, does anybody know of any good websites that I could go to to get some info, I already know quite a bit, but could always use more.

I'm 31, like you I've heard and enjoyed some of their singles over the years but only fairly recently have I gotten more interested in them. Actually my interest was spurred partly from seeing Brian Wilson live at the Bridgeschool Music Festival in I think it was 1998. Bridgeschool is a benefit concert that Neil Young organizes for autism. He always gets tons of top name talent for the show. The year that Brian played (I think he played it last year too actually but I missed the show), The Who was headlining and they also had Sheryl Crow, Pearl Jam, Green Day, Billy Corigan, Lucinda Williams, and of course Neil did a set as he always does. One thing about Bridgeschool that's interesting is that all the bands have to play acoutic, even when they have Ministry and people like that. So I got to see a pretty unique Brian Wilson set. I remember "Surfer Girl" and "God Only Knows" as particular highlights. My brother and his girlfriend didn't like his show that much but I thought it was cool. Then I started hearing about "Pet Sounds" but it took me a few years to find a copy of the album (I refuse to pay $18 for a brand new CD of a 30 year old album, and I was trying unsuccessfully to find it on vinyl). I loved it, and just a few months ago I bought the solo album "Smile" which I think is really fantastic. Just a few weeks ago I bought "Smiley Smile" coupled with "Wild Honey" so I've been listening to those a bit.
Did I not love him, Cooch? MY OWN FLESH I DIDN'T LOVE BETTER!!! But he had to say 'Nooooooooo'
