It just seems like he's always eating in2000 every movie I can remember him in, and I wonder if it's something he asks the scriptwriters to put into his parts?
Or is it his answer to finding something to do with his hands in a scene, which apparently is a very tough thing for actors to have to come up with, and look natural while doing so.
(Parenthetically, I never noticed the thing about hands until someone pointed it out decades ago, and now I can't stop taking notice of it in every scene of every film and tv show I watch. For instance, watch Gary Burghoff as Radar in MASH, always holding a piece of paper, or a clipboard, or something to hide his malformed left hand).
And now you won't be able to stop looking, either. Muahahahaaaa.
