I think life in prison would've been sufficient being that her childhood was beyond a nightmare. No excusing anything but Charles Manson and Richard Kuklinski get life in prison but Aileen gets death? wtf?

I honestly think she had a really bad lawyer and was badly represented in the first place. Alot of serial killers have been charged with less by an insanity plea and their lives are less than half of the stuff she went through.
She was basically Doomed from the very day she was born which is kinda sad. If her parents did the right thing and give her up for adoption to a good family. She would never have grown up being so bitter and hard towards men.

I have never read such a horrifying childhood. Her biological father was a convicted child molester(rape of a 7 year old) and a suspect in a child murder. She never knew her mother, and was given up for adoption.
Grandparents were alcholics and beat her repeatedly.
Her brother had sex with her in her pre-teens.
She started prostituting in her pre-teens.
She had a baby in her teens, the result of rape, saw him after birth, then he was taken away and put up for adoption.
She was very unattractive, and an outcast in her teens, just used by boys for sex.
She hosted a party in her teens at her house, invited everyone to eat and drink, and party with her, and they ended up throwing her out of her own house and her own party.
When her grandmother died, she had to leave the house at 17, became homeless, and went right to prostitution. I can see why she would hate men so much.
This was an extremely troubled woman. One one side execution was putting her out of her own misery, but on the other hand, life in prison could have helped her if she got the right counseling and support.

Wuornos didn't play God? That's a laugh, she judged and executed several men who never did anything wrong to her. You can't gather all the information from a warpedb68 mind while they are in custody, the state spends millions on executing these people to please the crowd of blood-thirsty people outside. its so funny to me that you wanted her dead, do you really think she is one of a kind, chances are there are very many people in the world today who experienced the same things as Wuornos did, and may go on to commit the crimes she did, so rather than study and learn all they could from wuornos, she was just taken and murdered.
if people like Wuornos, Bundy and other killers are studied, their behaviour can be detected in other people in earlier stages and many people could be saved and helped if this is so
No I don't believe she's one of a kind at all. I know there are killers and maniacs out there. All the info we could need to "study" their "condition" is gathered by the police as well as the psychiatrists (spelling might be wrong) the killers/maniacs are sent to while in custody.

Yes I believe she should have been executed. Some people are just beyond help and the only humane thing is to kill them. Some people are just so horrible that they should indeed die. I believe Wuornos was a combo of the two.

I can't speak for all the families and friends who lost their loved ones to Aileen, but I can tell you I was relieved she was given the death penalty. Why? She killed those men with no second thoughts, no remorse, and she should have to suffer what she put them and us through. Notb68 everyone she killed were soliciting. In fact, a couple were people who she just hitched a ride with and were kind enough to help her get somewhere, and she killed them.
There is a quote by Denzel Washington in the movie 'Man on Fire' that always reminds me about the situation. "Forgiveness is between you and God. It's up to me to arrange the meeting." (Or something along those lines.)

I agree with you, what did murdering her do for everyone involved? And the certral point that noone seems to be addressing here is WHY WERE THE MEN THERE IN THE FIRST PLACE?? I watch the women in the documentary talk about the victims and the one is crying about her brother, and then the other one is saying how she hopes Aileen "meets with ole' Sparky" yet neither of them address the fact that what those men were doing was just as sick as what she was doing. And, her upbringing plays a HUGE role in how, and why, she did what she did. It in no way excuses her, plenty of people grow up in horrible situations and don't do what she did, but it needs to be taken into consideration. If you really want to be vengeful, anyway, giving her life imprisionment would've been the thing to do, since she made it clear herself how badly she wanted to die. I think she should've been given treatment, and studied, as hasb68 been suggested, and honestly I really felt sorry for her. She really was failed, by the system, and by everyone around her. Who knows what difference could've been made if someone would've just taken the time to help her, listen to her, and given her some comfort. Having to live out in the woods for two years, as a kid, and having the whole neighborhood treat you like you're trash is enough to make anyone bitter and feel the need to retaliate. She did the best she knew how, and used the only commodity she had, her body. How sad is that???
