I remember, every time I would see Jane Wyatt on a TV show or when I saw her in Star Trek, how very beautiful she always looked. Always sparkling eyes. And to discover she was such a faithful spouse. Rest in peace, elegant, beautiful lady.

I just watched Lost Horizon and when I saw the 26 year-old Jane I said holy cow! I really only knew her from Father Knows Best and Star Trek, so it was quite amazing to get to see her in her prime. Hubba Hubba!

Especially in her early years, if you checkout her pre-TV era movies via TCM or such, she was most definitely a knockout.
Agreed. She was always an attractive woman, but she was positively gorgeous and sexy in her pre-television roles.
No blah, blah, blah!

It's interesting that the father you describe more accurately fits the radio version of Jim Anderson rather than the TV version except in the very first season (which were rehashes of some of the radio programs). In the other five seasons Jim often does know best with and without Margaret's help.
All six TV seasons of FKB are available on DVD from Shout! Factory Select if you want to relive your childhood. You can compare these with the radio programs which are available as MP3 files from several different old time radio websites. (I got mine from OTRCAT.com)

Especially in her early years, if you checkout her pre-TV era movies via TCM or such, she was most definitely a knockout.
I was ten when FKB came around. Jane and Harriet Nelson practically raised me!
I often thought how odd it was that TV mothers back then were required to have resumes showing genuine acting skills, while often the husbands, like Ozzie and Desi, both having been bandleaders in real life, apparently had no comparable requirement.
Anyone familiar with FKB knows that Jim rarely knew best; that the show's title was intended to represent an objective he would struggle to achieve, usually in vain. We viewers knew there was in the house one who would let him dangle as he tried to correct some dilemma, hoping he would get it right this time on his own, but then having to step in to prevent eminent danger from destroying an already badly battered ego.
Ironically, and somewhat unfairly, FKB became a rally symbol for militant feminism when in fact it was, like other shows of it's ilk, really an early version of a pro-feminist viewpoint. Pulled off by the some of the classiest people, not just Jane but including the other TV-mothers of that era besides, to ever grace the small screen.
Newton Minnow, a half century ago, called TV a vast wasteland. He was of course right-on, but I wonder if he was intending his remark for that time and place, or merely anticipating the future.

The late Jane Wyatt was a lovely woman. She played the mother on Father Knows Best(1954-1960). She played Spock's mother on Star Trek(1966-1969).

Totally agree. One of the actresses from the golden days of hollywood. We just won't see women of such class anymore. R.I.P. Jane and thanks for all your hard work.
