<p dir="auto">Yes they did; after Mermie's death from melanoma at 60 in 2001 Nancy and Jane spoke at Mo's funeral and a couple years later Nancy called Jane in Rancho Mirage and they discussed Reagan family business and. Maureen and widower Dennis Revell. Later on Nancy contacted Jane Wyman saying that in 5b4the first. stages of his illness Ron made Nancy promise that when his death was iniment that his first wife Jane be notified of the fact so she wouldn't hear it in the media; this she graciously did. Shortly before President Reagan passed away in 1994, Nancy invited Jane to the Reagan home in Belair so she could spend some quiet time with her former husband. Nancy arranged to be out of the house during Jane's visit and left the Reagan nurse in charge if there were upsets. Evidently Jane was very kind and sweet with Ron whom she had not been with on a one on one since their divorce became final in 1949. Though the president was confused he sensed the warmth in Jane's eyes when he miraculously said "Janie"; Jane must have been emotional and many things swept through her mind. She talked about Mike their only surviving child and Ronnie remembered he was the guy who always hugged and kissed him on leaving. Jane's large brown eyes must have brimmed with tears about her ex-husband's memory. Jane had a good day and left a bouquet of day lilies lilacs and lilies of the valley which Nancy found later addressed by an old friend from years ago, "Jane" on a note embossed in pink with blue letter Jane Wyman. Two woman who were never destined to be best friends did the best they could with the man they both had loved. Later Miss Wyman through a friend told "America that it had lost s great president and a kind, gentle and sweet man."</p>
