I was watching That Darn Cat! today. Ed Wynn sounded like a cartoon character.

I had nightmares after seeing Mary Poppins' I Love to Laugh sequence.
LOL!!
His "Love to Laugh" scene in Mary Poppins didn't really scare me as much as it annoyed me. The laugh is completely forced and fake sounding. I remember watching that movie on TV when I was a little kid staying over at my Grandma's. Of course, Grandma was familiar with the guy and had enjoyed his prior work. I, on the other hand, was sitting there wondering what was wrong with the dude.

Ed always intended to be funny. However, for me, his voice and his laugh really scared me! I had nightmares after seeing Mary Poppins' I Love to Laugh sequence. He sounded like a perverted old man. Something about his voice.
But from a historical standpoint, I am sure that Ed Wynn was verb68y loving and kind. He was one of vaudeville's first noted actors.

Well, that's how he came up with the name- his real name was Isaiah Edwin Leopold, so when he needed a stage name he just split his middle name.
